      These 13 short stories take place around the country but there are few Southern characters, which, in many cases, renders these tales less flavorful than the predominantly Southern ones in Victory Over Japan. Still, "even when Gilchrist's stories do not completely succeed, they are superior fare well worth reading,'' PW stated.
