NOFX: The Hepatitis Bathtub and Other Stories
is the first tell-all autobiography from one of the world's most influential and controversial punk bands. Fans and non-fans alike will be shocked by the stories of murder, suicide, addiction, counterfeiting, riots, bondage, terminal illness, the Yakuza, and drinking pee. Told from the perspective of each of the band's members, this audiobook looks back at more than thirty years of comedy, tragedy, and completely inexplicable success.

This memoir by punk band NOFX is not for the faint of heart, both for extreme gross-out content of all kinds and grimly frank stories of sexual violence, heroin addiction, and family tragedy. The book chronicles the early lives of all four current members of the band, plus a few who didn't stay with NOFX for reasons ranging from death to substance abuse to apathy, through their rise to punk stardom and their efforts to cope with success, which often sound as complicated as obscurity. None of the authors pull any punches when it comes to their own failings or those of their friends and partners. The narration by NOFX members is heartfelt and engaging, with guitarist Aaron "El Hefe" Abeyta a standout, though guest readers Tommy Chong and especially Jello Biafra get a little goofy sitting in for unavailable band members. VERDICT Recommended for fans of the band and any listeners in the mood for a gonzo-style rags-to-riches rock memoir that whiplashes from absurd to bleak to earnest without warning.--Jason Puckett, Georgia State Univ.
