      The third book in McCarty 's Lost Platoon series, following Off the Grid (2018), features Lieutenant Commander Scott Taylor, the SEALs officer who led the platoon and ordered the survivors to go dark while he figured out how they got ambushed in Russia, and Natalie Andersson, the woman who warned them. A secondary plot involves Scott's sister, Kate, and her still-loved ex-husband, Colt, a former SEAL. Natalie, brutalized into serving as an unwilling Russian spy and in grave danger, goes on the run, while Scott, who is tormented by his continued attraction to Natalie and anger over her apparent betrayal, goes after her. McCarty provides lots of action and great sex scenes in difficult circumstances. The intense SEALs protective instinct is on full display as both Natalie and Kate push back, leaving the bemused reader to wonder about marriage to such guys.
