Burton (Before She Dies) once again demonstrates her romantic suspense chops with this taut novel. Texas beauty Greer Templeton is desperately trying to keep her tragic past from bubbling up into the present, but when the body of her ex-boyfriend, Rory Edwards, is discovered hanged near her vineyard, it sets off troubling memories of the clinic for troubled teens where they met. Texas Ranger Tec Bragg suspects that Greer is either directly or indirectly linked to Rory’s death, and he knows for sure that he finds Greer tremendously attractive. Then another alum of the clinic is murdered, and Tec realizes that Greer’s in danger too. Burton plays cat-and-mouse with the reader through a tight plot, with credible suspects and romantic spice keeping it real.
